Remove the anti-static bridge using a 15W-25W soldering iron and desoldering braid.
| Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the 2 small screws pointed to by number 1 in the picture. Use of a magnetized screw driver is strongly suggested. After the screws have been removed, use your fingertips and press in on the tabs and apply upward pressure on the cover pointed to by number 2 in the picture. The cover can now be removed.
| On the back of the drive, remove the 2 screws using a Torx or Philips screwdriver. Look at the head of the screw to determine which screwdriver to use. Remove the bottom cover.
| Turn the drive upside down and move the white plastic guide to the right to open the tray.
| Turn the drive rightside up and pull the tray all the way out. Using your thumb fingernails, gently rock the slidelock on the rear of the laser toward the rear of the drive to release the laser cable. It will not come out much before the laser cable is released. At both ends of the guide rods there are small Philips head sheet metal screws. Remove these to free the laser. If necessary, swap over the plastic guide arm and reverse the procedure and your new laser is installed.
